About Us

Black Sheep Films has been creating screen content for more than four decades. Founded by Andrew McVitty in 1982, the company began by producing television commercials, commissioned screen content and museum installations before expanding into feature films, television drama, comedy and documentary.

Lisa Wang joined Black Sheep Films in 1995 and has played a central role in the company’s evolution, producing projects across documentary, feature film and television. Following Andrew’s passing in 2024, Lisa continues to lead Black Sheep Films, developing and producing distinctive Australian stories for local and international audiences.

Today, Black Sheep Films is committed to creative collaboration, ambitious storytelling and championing diverse voices across feature film, television and documentary.

Lisa Wang

Lisa Wang is a film and television producer and documentary filmmaker with more than 30 years’ experience across feature film, television drama, comedy and documentary. She has worked with Australia’s leading independent production companies and collaborated extensively with international partners in the UK, USA, Germany and Italy, as well as every major Australian broadcaster.

As a documentary filmmaker, Lisa wrote, directed and produced the television documentaries Reunion (SBS) and PS I Love You (ABC). Reunion was selected for the prestigious First Appearance Competition at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) in 1998, screened at international film festivals, was sold internationally, and won the ATOM Award for Best Documentary. PS I Love You received a Bronze Award at the Columbus International Film & Video Festival.

As a documentary producer, Lisa has collaborated with acclaimed filmmaker Trevor Graham on the feature documentaries Monsieur Mayonnaise, which premiered at the Berlinale, Chef Antonio’s Recipes for Revolution, and Digby & Camille, premiering at the 2026 Melbourne International Film Festival. All three films received support from the MIFF Premiere Fund.

Across her career, Lisa has worked as a producer, co-producer, line producer and supervising line producer on a diverse slate of Australian film and television productions. Her credits include the feature films Late Night with the Devil (Supervising Line Producer) and Healing (Line Producer); the television dramas Dangerous Remedy and The Doctor Blake Mysteries (Line Producer); and the comedy series Separated at Birth (Producer), White Fever (Producer), Problems (Producer), The Family Law (Co-Producer), Frayed (Line Producer), and the multi-award-winning Please Like Me (Producer), which reached audiences internationally through ABC, Hulu, Netflix and other global platforms.

Lisa is the founder and curator of Screen Presence, an industry initiative dedicated to increasing the representation of Asian Australians in the screen industry through mentoring, professional development and pathways into the mainstream sector.

Her work is driven by a commitment to distinctive storytelling, international collaboration and championing diverse voices, creating films and series that connect Australian stories with audiences around the world.
